Zuri’s mom: Michelle DeMarie
Zuri and her companion were found as strays and landed in a very high kill shelter in Joplin, Missouri. Thanks to a team called “Mama Tram” that transports mommies to be and mommies with babies from southern states to various receiving rescue’s in the Midwest, pregnant Zuri and her friend were moved to separate foster homes in the Des Moines area. The night she arrived, she delivered 7 puppies, 6 of which survived. It was not an easy delivery, so thank goodness she was in the tender loving care of her foster family versus an overcrowded shelter! Flash forward a few months-the babies were weaned and Zuri was looking for a new foster home. Michelle’s family had just lost their beloved cocker spaniel about this time and Michelle saw Zuri’s picture posted on a private Facebook foster page. Michelle fell in love! The family already knew before they brought her home to foster her that they would be making her a permanent member of the family. This was something that they fondly refer to as “premeditated foster fail”. “Foster fail” is a common phrase to describe the situation when fosters “fail” to give up an animal they have been fostering and adopt them instead. Zuri has been with the family since April 2017 and they love her so much!
Proceeds from the sale of Zuri’s shirt will go to Forever Home Dog Rescue. You can learn more about them at https://foreverhomedogs.org/
